How to Send Your Electricity Meter Reading Online in Maharashtra using the Mahavitaran App

Step 1: Go to the Play Store or App Store depending on the device that you use. Then download the Mahavitaran app on your mobile phone. 

Step 2: Now open the Mahavitaran app and then you will be asked to enter your login ID and password. 

If you already have an account then enter your login ID and password. But if you do not have an account then you will have to click on the ‘Don’t have an account? Sign up’ option. 

Step 3: Once you click on the Sign Up option then you will be asked to enter a few details. In this step, you will have to enter your consumer number and mobile number. You will find this consumer number on your electricity bill. Once you enter the mobile number click on the ‘Generate OTP’ option. 

An OTP will be sent to the mobile number then just enter the OTP that you have received on your mobile phone.

Now you will have to enter other remaining details which are your email ID, login name that is the username, and password. Now click on the ‘Submit’ button. Once you click on the Submit button your account will be created.

Step 4: Now enter your username and password and then click on the ‘Login’ button.

Now you will see a lot of options from which you will have to click on the ‘Submit meter reading’ option. 

Step 5: If you click on the “Submit meter reading” option and nothing happens, it means that the option is currently not enabled for you. However, once you receive an SMS from Mahavitran regarding meter reading submission, you will be able to submit your reading. This message can sometimes be received before the end of the next month after registration. Once you receive the SMS, the option to submit your meter reading will be enabled.

After successfully registering on the Mahavitaran app, you will be able to view various features on the app such as your current electricity bill, previous month’s bill, and an option to file a complaint in case of meter-related issues. The SMS will have information about your consumer number, your meter reading date, and the date by which you can submit the meter reading yourself. So you can send your meter reading before the given date with the help of the Mahavitaran app on your mobile phone.

Step 6: Once you click on the “Submit Meter Reading” option, you will be directed to a new page where you can see the name of the person under whose name the meter is registered. Click on that name to proceed.

Step 7: On the next page, you will be prompted to take a reading. All your relevant information such as your consumer number, billing unit, bill month, reading date, and the previous reading date will be displayed. To proceed, click on the “OK” button to grant permissions and allow access to different mobile features such as location and camera.

Step 8: Now under the meter reading option you will see KWH. This means kilowatt hour. When you take the meter reading you will have to take in the kilo-watt format. Now on the next page, you will have to take the meter reading.

Click a picture of your meter reading. For that, you will have to click on the ‘Press to capture photo’ option. When you click the photo make sure that the time, date, and reading is in KWH format. Once you capture the picture click on the ‘Submit reading’ option. 

Now click on the ‘Yes’ option and your meter reading will be successfully submitted.
