How to check PF Balance Online (4 Easy Ways)

Check PF Account Balance through Miss Call
When you use this method which is the ‘missed call’ method you will not need the UAN number or even your provident funds account number. Here you will be able to check your balance by just giving a missed call on the number issued by the EPFO.
So you will have to give a missed call on this number – 9966044425. So when you give a missed call on this number issued by EPFO you will receive an SMS just within a few minutes. This SMS will have the information regarding the balance in your provident fund account. In the image below you can see the detailed format of the SMS. So make sure that you check this image out carefully.
Note: The only condition is that your mobile number should be registered or linked with your provident fund account.
Check PF Account Balance through text SMS
In this second method, you can check the balance in your provident fund account by sending an SMS to the number issued by the EPFO. So for that, you will have to draft a text message. The official number issued by the EPFO is 7738299899. So the format for drafting a text message is – you will have to type EPFOHO and then leave space and enter your UAN number, hit the send button.

Once you send this message to the above-mentioned number then you will immediately receive a response on your registered mobile number via an SMS in the next few minutes. This SMS will show your balance amount in the provident fund account.
Note: One of the most important things is that your number should be registered and linked to your provident fund account and you should have also completed your Aadhar KYC. Only then you will be able to check the balance amount in your provident fund account via an SMS.
Check PF Account Balance through the epfo website
Using the above two methods which are missed calls and SMS, you will only be able to check the balance amount in your provident fund account. But if you want to know other transaction details like time and date of debit, time and date of credit, interest given by the EPFO or if you want to check the statement or passbook of your provident fund account then you can get this information with the help of the EPFO website. Now let us see how you can check these details. Make sure that you follow all the steps given below.
Step 1: Open any browser on your phone, laptop, or computer and then go to the official website of EPFO which is epfindia.gov.in. Then click on the e-passbook option, on the right side of the home page.
Step 2: Now an interface will be opened on the next page. Here you will have to enter your UAN number and your password. Then click on the ‘Login’ button.

Step 3: Now select your employer (company) for which you want to check the PF balance. And then just click on the ‘View passbook’ option.
Step 4: Then select the financial year for which you want to check the balance. Once you click on it you will be able to see the full balance statement of your provident fund account.

Checking the balance in your provident fund account with the help of the Umang app
Check PF Account Balance through UMANG app
- Open any browser and go to the official website of EPFO. Once you open it you will be able to see an icon of Umang. Click on that icon.
- Once you click on the Umang icon then you will be redirected to Umang’s website.
- If you are someone who is already registered on the Umang website then just log in to your account by entering your credentials. But if you are someone who is not registered on the Umang website then you will have to enter your mobile number. You will then receive an OTP on the mobile number that you have entered. Enter that OTP and login into your account.
- Then on the next page click on the search bar and search for the EPFO department.
- Now you will have to log in to your PF account. For that, you will have to click on the ‘Login’ button. Then enter your UAN number. Now click on the ‘OTP’ option. Once you click on it an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter the received OTP and then click on the ‘Submit’ button. This is how you can log in to your pf account.
- Now you will see a few options. From this option click on the ‘View passbook’ option.
- Now select your employer (company) for which you want to check the balance. And you will successfully be able to check your balance and the passbook will be opened.
