Convert your SBI Insta Plus Saving Account into Normal Saving Account with Signature-based services 



The State Bank of India enables its customers to open an account without having to visit the bank in person. This account is called an Insta Savings account. The Insta savings account is opened via the official mobile banking app of the State Bank of India which is the YONO app. This is a savings account but it is different from the normal savings account as the facilities provided by the Insta Savings account are different from the facilities provided by the Normal Savings account.

Some facilities are not available on the Insta Savings account, including chequebooks, passbook withdrawals, and ECS Mandate service. To access these services, you will need to convert your Insta savings account into a normal savings account. In this article, we will tell you how to convert your Insta Savings account into a Normal savings account. So make sure that you stick to the end and read the article carefully. 


The facilities offered by the Insta savings account are very limited. But there is a valid reason behind this. It is mandatory for a bank to have all your KYC details for verification purposes. When you open an Insta Savings account you just verify your ownership with your Aadhar card and PAN Card details. So the Insta Savings Account you do not get a personalized debit card but you get a ‘Personalised Rupay debit card’. This personalized Rupay debit card works only in India. If you want to receive or send money then to other countries then you will have to go to the home branch (the branch you have selected as your home branch while activating your Insta Savings Account) and complete the entire KYC process. And then you will have to buy the master card offered by the State bank of India. 

But you get a personalized platinum debit card if you have a normal savings account. Also, you will not get access to cheque book through the Insta Savings Account. But a normal savings account enables you to get a chequebook, there are some charges that you will have to pay if you want to avail of a chequebook. So if you want to avail of these facilities then you will have to convert your Insta Savings Account into a normal Savings Account. 

Convert your SBI Insta Plus Saving Account into Normal Saving Account

Here’s how you can convert your Insta Savings Account into a normal Savings account by State Bank of India –

Since the Insta Savings Account is opened in the comfort of your home the KYC process is done through a video call. And that is why the bank does not get your signature on paper as the process for opening an Insta Savings Account is paperless. Now to convert it into normal savings account you will have to visit your home branch which is the branch you selected as your home branch when you opened your Insta savings account. You will have to carry some documents such as –

  • A copy of your Aadhar card and your original Aadhar card as well. 
  • A copy of your PAN Card and your original PAN Card.
  • Three copies of your passport-size photos.

When you visit your home branch you will have to fill out a ‘Signature Specimen’ application form. You will have to attach your photos, a copy of your Aadhar card and your PAN Card as well to that signature specimen application form and submit it. Now once you have submitted this form your signature will be uploaded to the system and you will be able to use the signature-based services. And once this process is completed your Insta Savings account will be converted into a normal savings account and you will be able to avail of the services offered by the normal savings account.
